Ontario Reader is a collection of news, stories and information written for English as a second language (ESL) and literacy learners.
This flexible resource is designed to help learners improve their English skills and learn about life in Ontario and Canada.
Ontario Reader contains a variety of stories and information adapted from newspapers and other sources.
The topics include Canadian culture, government, history, people, places and events. The stories are written at three levels of difficulty,
ranging from beginner to intermediate. Interesting photographs establish the context of the stories and facilitate conversation and pre-reading activities.
The stories are accompanied by practice exercises that focus on reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary development.
Ontario Reader is designed for classroom or individual study. It includes an answer key and teacher's guide.
A new edition of Ontario Reader will be available in May 2012.
The 2012 edition will contain an entirely new collection of news, stories and information for ESL and literacy learners.
Please check this website in late April for ordering information.
